We really loved the short time there. It was super convenient to pay for our lot at the machine when we arrived at 4am.
We stopped here for the night with an RV. We stayed in Loop D (or C). It’s GORGEOUS here.
My ONLY complaint is the website is no help at all. Info was buried in pages under pages and it wasn’t until we arrived after closing hours was when we saw the “reservations by phone only” in the section closest to the entrance. The website said the opposite on its main page. It was a little frustrating, and then we had to figure out how to get to the other areas (again, website was no help and we lost phone connectivity anyway). GPS helped the most while it could.
Really impressed with campground area. Better than Rock Creek. Becareful some have electric some do not. Camp host was nice and very informative. The bathrooms and restroom was amazing for camping. We had a bee problem when we were there. But it was warm still in October.
Awesome peaceful
Great spot to get away.
I had never heard of Chickasaw National Recreation Area until someone told me about it 2 months ago. I booked a site for a 3 day weekend for my family of four and our 35' RV. The website is easy to use and you can see actual pictures of each site, you can book a particular site which I love. Takes the unknown element out of most RV reservations - you know the "If I get there late I will get a bad spot" syndrome. The roads are all paved as are the sites. We stayed in Loop C although we drove through Loop D as well, loops A and B were closed for hunting. Each site has a very nice tent pad area that also includes the picnic table and fire pit, the surface is crushed granite which drains well so I imagine good for tents. We had 30/50 amp electric and water, no sewer is available however (there is a dump station a mile away which is a bit far for using a pull behind the truck tote but manageable). Store nearby you can purchase firewood. The shower/restroom building was the nicest I have seen at a State or National park campground and kept very clean. Many things to do nearby such as zip line at Air Donkey Zip Lines, Turner Falls and the park has a nice nature center, natural mineral and fresh water springs as well as plenty of hiking. I took one star off due to no sewer hookups and the campground loop C road is a bit narrow in several places to where I had to be very careful to not hit a tree or roll off the edge of the pavement into the ditch.
We would definitely stay here again- BUT I would definitely not do what we did and choose this place on the fly! Whoops.
